Whether you're unemployed, looking to change career, or have recently been made redundant, Gloucestershire College has a wide range of courses that can give you the skills and confidence to get the job you want.

Courses are taught at our Cheltenham, Cinderford and Gloucestershire campuses all year round by our tutors, with personalised support available every step of the way.

These courses will be free of charge for learners aged 19 and over (as at 31st August 2021) in receipt of certain benefits or employed learners earning less than £17,374.50 annual gross salary.

  • NEW COURSE - Introduction to Working in a Health Care Setting - 16th- 17th May

Whether you are thinking about a career at a care provider, want to work with the elderly, young people or with the general public our two day course will give you the skills and information to start on your pathway to employment.

Proud to Care will be attending to talk to learners about employment opportunities in Gloucestershire and can connect learners to health care providers.

  • NEW COURSE - Introduction to Working in an Educational Setting - 9th & 10th May

A two day introductory workshop to working in roles within an educational settings.

Overview of roles and responsibilities, effective communication with children, safeguarding responsibilities, supporting positive behaviour within an educational setting.

This course is aimed at adults over the age of 19+ in receipt of certain benefits or earning less than £18’525. There are no formal entry requirements.

  • NEW COURSE - Introduction to Small Animal Care - 18th & 20th May

An introductory two day workshop to working in small animal care roles and settings. Consideration of roles, key skills and qualities, pathways/ progression routes into roles, understanding of the sector, relevant health and safety considerations. This course is delivered by small animal care Tutor Julia.

  • NEW COURSE - Steps To Setting Up Your Own Business - 26th-27th April and 27th-28th June

A two-day course that highlights some of the key issues that need to be considered when you set out to run your own business. Considerations from marketing and sales to finance and legal requirements will be discussed together with the psychology and motivation behind starting up your own business.

Our tutor, Ann-May Jenkins, runs her own small businesses in Gloucester and can help you appreciate from her own experiences where to concentrate your efforts and how to avoid expensive mistakes.

Some of the topics covered

Setting up a business plan, be able to construct, prepare, present and calculating start-up costs
Gain an initial understanding of the financial needs, legal requirements and insurance needed for a small business.
Learn the key steps you will need to consider when planning, and creating your business to increase your chances of success and minimise risk.
Understand how to market and advertise your business, identifying competition, setting pricing and branding strategies.
