Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 3 (Trainee Client Services Manager)

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for the right person. You need to be a superstar (or one in the making) in order to be a good fit for the role. In return, you will be given the opportunity to become an integral part of the business and its long term plans.

Cheltenham Tax Accountants prides itself on being 'different' to other more traditional practices having a more modern, yet personal approach. This is evident as soon as you visit our premises and meet the team.

The role will be tailored to the individual but will include a balance between business administration, customer service and a small amount of marketing assistance. The candidate will not need formal accounting training but internal training around our main services and how they help our clients will be provided.

We are a team of 8 with around 4/5 in the office at any one time (when not in lockdown). The culture is young-minded, modern with a vision to be the most approachable accounting firm in Gloucestershire. We also strive to be a fantastic place to work. We often have free work lunches during office hours and are starting to run out of places in Cheltenham to eat!

The candidate will need to have amazing people skills as there will be the need to communicate with clients on a regular basis either on the phone, email and in person.

Our core values are:

  • OARBED / Above the line mindset (all about taking ownership)
  • Kaizen philosophy
  • Person first
  • Striving for client success
  • Team player
  • KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid)

We hire (and fire) by these core values. We are not in business to deliver an average service and be an average business. If you want to have a career that challenges and inspires you with an abundance of opportunity then look no further.

Please note that the salary will start between £5-7 p/h (depending on experience) but is expected to significantly increase over the course of your development.

Your role will involve work in the following areas:

  • Day to day practice communication via the telephone and email with clients and the team
  • Taking part in new client meetings in order to provide a world-class follow-up experience (alongside a client manager)
  • Assisting with managing, organising and prioritising client work by working alongside the technical staff to make sure client service is always first
  • Helping to ensure internal and external deadlines are met by the team
  • Working closely with the Director to improve certain processes
  • Learning how to answer routine accounts and tax-related questions (you do not need to have an accounting qualification as full training provided in this area)
  • Actively looking to reduce the burden of routine admin and communication tasks for the team, in order to free up their chargeable time
  • Regular contribution to improving client experience
  • Play an important part in the business' marketing activities, from social media posts to brochures, website work, SEO and blogging.

Essential qualities/skills:

  • Must be a people person by your own standards
  • Confident and outgoing
  • No problem speaking to clients/team members on the phone and zoom/teams
  • Superb organisation skills
  • A growth mindset (ambitious and wants to learn more)
