Assistant Land / Building Surveyor


The Company

Ruxton Surveys are a successful and dynamic family business specialising in the acquisition and delivery of measured surveys for land and building assets. We are now providing for a wide range of clients and projects in an array of sectors, covering the United Kingdom. As such, we are looking to expand our team.

The Role

Ruxton Surveys are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Trainee/Assistant Surveyor to join our growing team. The role will comprise of learning Land and Measured Building Survey methods from our in-house Surveyors involving the use of total stations, GNSS kits and laser scanners to capture measurement data.

The successful candidate will initially spend their time being trained on the job by experienced members of our team, with a view to further training in CAD draughting and survey processing methodologies. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to forge a career in a highly technical and growing industry.

Work will be both office and site-based so the candidate must be mentally equipped to handle all types of weather conditions, willing to travel and accept some varying working hours in order to meet strict deadlines.


  • Shadowing and assisting Surveyors to deliver projects to clients on time
  • Assisting surveyors with site work
  • Draughting surveys in CAD software and processing survey data


  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s (A-C Including Maths and English)
  • Motivated approach to personal and company development
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Office hours are 0830-1630 but site hours can vary so the candidate must be flexible in order to meet deadlines
  • Must have a full and clean driving license with access to a vehicle for office commute


  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Previous experience in surveying or related qualifications
  • A levels
  • Experience with CAD software


  • High potential for career progression in a growing industry

Salary: £18,000 - £24,000 per annum (experience and skill dependant)

Hours Per Week: Full Time/Permanent
