CARPENTER - SASH WINDOW REPAIRS AND RESTORATION

Gloucestershire

This post is for a dedicated specialist sash window restorer and ideally you will be able to demonstrate that you have previous experience repairing sash windows.

You will have at least a level 3 qualification in carpentry or joinery and a minimum of five years’ experience working as a carpenter or joiner.

You have excellent references to prove that you are someone who works hard, has a fine eye for detail, learns quickly, and can think for yourself; you will need to be creative and have a flexible attitude to dealing with difficult and sometimes complex re-jointing of sashes with the minimal use of fillers.

You need to be 100% honest, reliable and a good time keeper. You must have pride in your work and skills to produce accurate and fully finished products suitable for the preservation of historic buildings.

You will have a driving licence and your own legal road transport for safely transporting 3m lengths of beadings, a comprehensive set of hand and power tools (including110v). Initially a mileage fee is paid. After the trail period we can provide a company vehicle.

You will need to be local to Cheltenham, Stroud, the Cotswolds or South Gloucestershire or be able to drive to these areas for work.

After initial product training, you will work in both domestic premises and on building sites replacing sash window sills, repairing or replacing rotten rails and draught proofing windows and doors.  Some glazing is required. Knowledge of double-glazing wooden windows would be useful.  You will be given realistic daily targets.

You will always need to be aware of COVID precautions and act to protect yourself and our clients.
We work within a positive culture of health and safety and you are required to positively engage and promote the protection of yourself, others and their property. Avalid CSCS card is needed.

Salary:  Negotiable from £35,000 - £37,500 per year depending on previous experience of repairing sash windows plus 28 days holidays (including bank holidays) and pension contributions.

This is a full time position (after a 4 months trial period).

We will look at self-employed (different rates of pay), employed, part time or full time.

If you are suitable for the post, please email a CV and a short note about yourself, what you have achieved, or phone to discuss the position with Trevor, on the number in the contact details.

References are required.
