Force Control Room Call Handler – July & October 2024 Intakes

We are looking for individuals with exceptional communication skills and a passion for public service to become Call Handlers within Gloucestershire Constabulary. You will be part of an inclusive team of professionals delivering an excellent service to the public.

You will work in an environment which changes from minute-to-minute. No two days will be the same as you ensure that the public feel valued; helping to build confidence in the police service. You will be dealing with emergency and non-emergency contact via a variety of channels. Often callers can be distressed and in a time critical situation. You will need to take control, gain relevant information and make dynamic decisions whilst being empathetic, compassionate and supportive.

We are recruiting full-time and part-time Call Handlers. The part-time working patterns include working 24/7 and including bank holidays. Please see the spreadsheets for the shift patterns, at the bottom of the spreadsheet are the tabs for the different shift patterns.

The late shift would attract a shift allowance of 34.05%, which commences after the completion of the initial training course when the successful applicants start working the 24/7 shift pattern.

37 hours per week = £24,921 - £27,351 with 34.05% shift allowance = £33,406 - £36,664

18.5 hours per week = £12,460 - £13,675 with 34.05% shift allowance = £16,702 - £18,332

18 hours per week = £12,123 - £13,305 with 32.06% shift allowance = £16,010 - £17,571
