Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Forest of Dean, Chipping Campden
Join learning disability charity Brandon Trust as a bank support worker and discover a genuinely rewarding role where working on a casual basis gives you flexibility. You’ll support people with learning disabilities and autism at home and in the community to live life more freely. You don’t necessarily need experience as we provide full training. Alternatively, you may be an experienced care assistant or care worker.
You’ll have flexibility and access to shifts that suit you; you could work for a day here and there, for a number of months, evenings only or weekends only.
We have roles in Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Forest of Dean and Chipping Campden.
If you’d like to find out more about joining us as a casual support worker pop in for a chat at one of our regular recruitment events; visit www.brandontrust.org/open-days to find out more
About the role
You’ll join our friendly teams, enabling adults and children with a learning disability, autism or both, to increase their independence; there’s lots of variety. You’ll support individuals in all aspects of daily living; from cooking to managing finances. Supporting people with their personal care and medication needs is also key. As a casual support worker, you’ll also support people to do things in their community; from shopping and going on day trips to sport and visiting day centres.
If you’re new to health and social care, we provide full training including the nationally recognised Care Certificate.
About you
You’ll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people’s differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach. A full driving licence is essential for some roles.
Before your first shift you’ll complete the required essential training. You’ll then start as a probationary bank worker, until you’ve completed all the relevant training and have worked the required probationary hours, during which time you'll receive plenty of support from our staff.
