Specialist Support Worker - CBS295

Gloucestershire

Benefits:  Competitive

CCP believes that a healthy, happy life starts with a stable, safe home.

There are many factors that impinge on an individual’s ability to maintain their home.  This could be poor physical health, unresolved or long-standing mental health issues, social isolation or relationship breakdown.

You will play an integral role in improving people’s lives by assessing their strengths and needs and supporting them to create and access a package of support that helps them to sustain their home or move on to better accommodation.

A legacy of our work is often increased self-confidence and independence, better physical and mental health, improved family and personal relationships – all of which we believe are the cornerstones to a happier life.

You will have an extensive repertoire of skills at your disposal that could have been learned and demonstrated in a similar or transferable setting or galvanised through personal experience that have enriched your knowledge and values.

You will thrive at building relationships, be it with those you are supporting or with our network of partner agencies. You will see strengths in people and help them to harness these to achieve a safe stable home for themselves, liaising with other professionals as needed.

Managing a busy caseload will require that you bring strong organisational and time management skills.  You will be working in people’s homes or from drop-in sites, seeing multiple people in a typical day and will be given the flexibility to be creative in how you manage your time.

There are many ‘wins’ in the role – helping people access their benefits or appealing where these have been withheld; supporting people to move into safer, more suitable accommodation or securing furniture/essential items (cooker, fridge etc.) and negotiating with landlords to withdraw eviction notices.

You will also have the foresight to expect challenging days – celebrating the ‘wins’ whilst possessing the resilience to bounce back from setbacks.

Benefitting from 1-2-1 supervision, a designated training pathway and working within a knowledgeable, experienced and supportive team, you will have the support in the place to thrive in the role.

This role is a Monday-Friday 9am-5pm shift pattern; however, you must be willing to be flexible and work evenings and weekends as required to meet the needs of the clients. As this service covers Gloucester, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean, a willingness to travel across the areas is essential for this role.  A full drivers licence and your own transport is essential.

Here are 5 things our people like about working for us:

1) Making a difference - You will be able to make genuine difference to people’s lives

2) People first - People are at the core of our organisation and our decision making

3) Flexibility - As an organisation, we try to be as flexible as we can

4) Progression - We have clear routes of progression for people whether that be career, skills, training or personal development

5) Embracing opportunity - We listen to ideas and embrace opportunity, we want to utilise your skills
