CATERING ASSISTANT

Gloucester

At Guild House Residential Home

19 hours per week (including alternate weekends)
11.5 hours per week (two week average) – Days 4pm-7pm

Catering Assistant – £9.90 per hour, plus £1.00 per hour at weekends

We are looking for full-time and part-time staff to assist with various tasks from food preparation, food delivery, kitchen cleaning and occasional assistance of residents to eat. You will work within a team supporting residents, some living with dementia, with varying nutrition and hydration needs.

CATERING ASSISTANT

22 hours per week (including alternate weekends) – Days 8am-2pm, 2.30pm-6.30pm shifts

We require you to have experience of working in a kitchen environment, have a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification, be working towards one, or would be willing to complete one whilst working for the Trust.  You need to be willing to learn how to support residents’ nutrition and hydration needs if you do not already have experience in this.

Job Profile:

To assist with the preparation of meals and snacks for residents and members within guidelines specified by the Registered Manager and Head Chef.

Key to all posts:

All Trust employees must ensure that residents and members are treated with dignity, respect and protected from neglect or abuse. All Trust employees must abide by the terms and conditions of their contract, the Trust’s Code of Conduct and this job description.

Job Specific Duties

1. Carry out general dining room duties allocated to you for your shift, including laying, waiting
at and cleaning tables.
2. Preparation of food as directed by the Chef on duty.
3. Be aware of each residents’ specific dietary requirements, including allergies and modified
textures.
4. Transport of meals and refreshments to dining rooms and any other locations (including
residents’ rooms) as required and collection of trays / dirty cutlery and crockery from same.
5. The preparation, delivery and collection of drinks.
6. Wash dishes and kitchen utensils, fill and operate dishwasher as required.
7. Ensure Residents water jugs are collected, washed and replaced with fresh water at regular
intervals set by the Registered Manager.
8. Ensure the kitchen, dining rooms and food storage areas are clean and tidy and carry out
end of shift cleaning duties as directed by the Chef on duty, in line with cleaning schedules
(including rubbish removal) and signing off the appropriate records.
9. Replenish stock throughout the home where required.
10. Assist with the putting away of deliveries.
11. Report to the Head Chef any items in need of repair.
12. Be aware of and work within the specific food hygiene regulations and guidance relating to
working in catering.

f) Take reasonable care for your health and safety and for that of others that may be affected by your acts or omissions.
g) Ensure that you are aware of your responsibilities and actions to take should a fire arise and in the event of a fire that you follow them.
h) Report any situation which may affect the safety or quality of the Trusts’ services.
i) Ensure you use Trust recording and reporting systems correctly.
j) Make full and proper use of any system of work provided by the Trust.
k) Use any equipment provided by the Trust in accordance with its purpose.
l) Attend any training deemed appropriate for your job title by the Trust.
m) Attend staff and other meetings as requested.
n) Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
o) Carry out, when asked, any duty that could reasonably be expected of you.
