Deputy Manager
Gloucester
We are recruiting a passionate and dedicated Deputy Manager at Jelly Bears Day Nursery. This person will provide strong support to the team, while also focusing on the needs of the children and be a part of our continued growth and success. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop and work in an intimate, family run nursery setting.
This is a full-time role, working 40 hours a week, year round. Flexible working hours/days can be discussed for a suitable candidate.
You will hold a full and relevant qualification in Early Years at Level 3 or above, understand the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted and have at least 3 years' experience working in a nursery setting in a senior management position. You should be a strong team player with excellent leadership skills.
Since being opened in 2018, the company and nursery has grown steadily, creating a valued partnership with parents' approach to the development of the children, while nourishing the nursery’s unique strengths. Jelly Bears is an OFSTED graded GOOD nursery.
Main Responsibilities
- To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5 years.
- To deputise for and work alongside the Nursery Manager.
- To supervise and appraise nursery staff as well as overseeing their learning and development.
- To ensure that the nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.
- To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
- Duties will be split between office and room based, according to the needs of the business.
- To be a Key Person for a small group of children.
Main Activities
- To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
- To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress and to support other staff in doing so
- To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times
- To undertake designated officer roles where required
- To undertake staff supervisions as directed
- To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families
- To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies
- To ensure records are properly maintained
- To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement
- To work in partnership with senior management to update and review the nursery's self-evaluation.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery's aims and objectives
The Deputy Nursery Manager Has Responsibility For
- Ensuring that the nursery provides high quality childcare and early years education and is compliant with Company policy, relevant legislation, and current requirements as laid down by the Government and regulated by Ofsted.
- Leading the nursery team in a considered way, with compassion and humility, to ensure that each practitioner is inspired, committed and working to the best of their abilities and skills. The manager will seek help from, and be guided by, the management team where appropriate.
- Agreeing key priorities for the nursery with the nursery manager and management team and the nursery team, including the nursery’s senior practitioners.
- Ensuring that events, processes and procedures are successfully completed within agreed deadlines
