Deputy Manager

Skallywags (Tewkesbury) Ltd is an independent, family run setting that cares for children aged 3 months to 4 years in its nursery and ages 4-8 in holiday club facilities.

We follow the Early years foundation stage whilst taking influence from educational theorists such as RIE, Reggio Emelia, Steiner/Waldorf and Montessori. Providing ‘real life’ and authentic experiences to all children, being actively involved with community events and areas of interest. Encouraging children’s natural curiosity and supporting them to feel confident, resilient, loved and ready for the next stage of their education.

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Manager to join our small, friendly team. We are seeking to employ a professional who is motivated, creative and enthusiastic about providing the best standard of care for every child.

In addition to being level 3 (or above) qualified, the right candidate will also:

  • Be of a nurturing nature
  • Share our vision and act with enthusiasm when providing care to children
  • Engage in professional opportunities for development and CPD
  • Promote individual learning for each unique child
  • Be responsible for key children, acting as their champion, providing provocations and invitations that support their learning, development and emotional well-being.
  • Have an appreciation for wooden, natural equipment, loose parts and authentic resources.
  • Be confident in offering ‘real life’ opportunities whilst being attentive to children’s interests and developmental needs
  • Already have, or be willing to train in, Paediatric first aid and Safeguarding training.

In return we offer fantastic career development plans, supporting staff in attending additional training courses to further their CPD.

Skallywags is committed to the safeguarding of all its children, staff and visitors. We ensure safeguarding legislation and guidance are adhered to and have policies and procedures in place that all members of staff are expected to understand and follow with support from our designated safeguarding lead. All staff are trained to a level appropriate to their safeguarding responsibilities and are expected to attend both internal and external training sessions.

Applicants will be subject to recruitment and selection procedures. The procedures include interview questions, verification of identity and qualifications, acquiring references and DBS disclosure check
