Contract Type: 1 year Fixed Term Contract

Are you looking for an exciting role in communications and marketing that really makes a difference?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Specialist to join our team delivering communications and marketing to residents across the Cotswolds.

You will be joining the Communications and Marketing Team at Publica where we are looking to be best-in-class, delivering engaging, impactful and innovative communications for our three partner councils, including Cotswold District Council. You could play a key part in that, helping to impact the lives of the 280,000+ people in our districts.

The Council is busy recreating an organisation that’s pro-active and responsive to the needs of residents and businesses in a fast changing environment. That means we need to be ‘fleet of foot’ and look for innovative and creative ways to deliver against the Council priorities. You would play a key role in that change.

About the role…

The ways we communicate are constantly evolving and we are looking for a talented individual with the drive to constantly improve and innovate so that we can deliver exciting and effective communications that make a difference to the lives of the residents we serve. We are looking for someone who can think outside the box, be creative and push boundaries and if you think that could be you we would love to hear from you.

You would be delivering communications and marketing for Cotswold District Council, helping to engage residents in the many projects being delivered, communicating with residents about the great work the Council is doing to support its communities and passing on critical service information. The work will be exciting and varied with each day bringing new challenges that will keep you on your toes and provide you with an opportunity to try new approaches, explore new platforms and deliver brilliant work.

As part of the role you would get the chance to use all the skills of a modern communicator including working with the local media, creating and delivering impactful campaigns and producing engaging social media content. You would do this as part of a wider collaborative team where you will have a real opportunity to develop new skills, grow as a professional and help us re-think the way we communicate to help people and get our message across.

You will need…

  • Relevant professional communications qualifications in public relations, marketing or related field, a degree in relevant subject area or relevant experience
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of effective communications techniques, practices and current thinking including social media and other digital channels
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing successful external communications plans
  • Experience in managing media enquiries and engagement
  • Political sensitivity and the ability to form productive, professional working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
  • We would also consider candidates who have recently graduated who can show transferable skills and interests in this role.
