Communications Officer - Coronavirus response and recovery - PUB172.1

Cirencester/Coleford/Witney (including home working)

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Officer to join our team delivering communications and marketing to residents across the Publica partnership.  If you have either experience in public relations or marketing or are a recent graduate in a relevant subject we would love to hear from you.

You will be joining the Communications and Marketing Team at Publica where we are looking to become best-in-class, delivering engaging, impactful and innovative communications for our three partner councils. You could play a key part in that, helping to impact the lives of the 280,000+ people in our districts.

About the role…

This is a fixed term role delivering communications in support of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic response and also supporting key projects that will help our communities recover from the impacts of the pandemic.

The work will be exciting and varied, covering a wide range of communications disciplines as you look to best reach many different audiences about many different topics. You will have a real opportunity to positively benefits thousands of people through the communications you plan, create and issue.
The ways we communicate are constantly evolving andwe are looking for a talented individual with the drive to constantly improve and innovate so that we can deliver creative and effective communications that make a difference to the lives of the residents we serve.

You will be managing local media contacts, creating and delivering campaigns, producing social media content and supporting colleagues to best communicate their messages. You would do this as part of a wider collaborative team and you will have a real opportunity to develop new skills, push boundaries and grow as a professional communicator.

You will need…

• Relevant professional communications qualifications in public relations, marketing or related field, a degree in relevant subject area or relevant experience
• Demonstrable understanding and experience of effective communications techniques, practices and current thinking including social media and other digital channels
• A proven track record of developing and implementing successful external communications plans

• Experience in managing media enquiries and engagement
• Political sensitivity and the ability to form productive, professional working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
• We would also consider candidates who have recently graduated who can show transferable skills and interests in this role.
