Domestic Services Team Leader


Line Manager: Operations Manager and Assistant Domestic Services Manager
Start Date: As soon as all checks are received

The Role
The role will be a hands-on cleaning role but will include some responsibility for supervision of other cleaners and for ensuring that the Boarding houses and other areas are prepared for use by lets during the holidays and are made ready for the return of pupils in term time.

We are looking for an individual who will take a pride in the presentation of their areas and who will understand the importance of the boarding environment to the life of the boarding pupils.

The individual will ensure a high quality of customer service is delivered by the team to all users of the Foundation facilities through the provision of a clean and safe environment.


  • To undertake a cleaning role, as defined in the cleaners Job Description, in an allocated area of the Foundation. Allocation of areas may change to fit the needs of the service
  • To provide support to all cleaning staff in those areas and to ensure they are able to carry out their role effectively and to the agreed standards and schedules
  • To supervise cleaners as directed by the ADSM
  • To assist the ADSM in supervising all cleaning requirements arising from DCSL and DCNL activity on site
  • To assist the laundry staffing and service outside of term time if required
  • Support the ADSM in ensuring that the Health and Safety of all staff is reflected in appropriate work habits, following the training and instructions provided
  • To assist in the implementation of improvement plans as required
  • Ensure the correct use of chemicals and equipment and undertake both initial and refresher training where required to maintain standards
  • Ensure all staff follow the established cleaning standards and schedules manual for the Foundation
  • Support requests from key staff for one off events cover and specialist cleaning within agreed budget limits
  • Support the ADSM on all recruitment activity including induction and training of newly appointed staff
  • Support the Operations Departments managers team to drive improved recycling and sustainability across the Foundation

Person Specification:


  • Experience working within cleaning teams
  • Sound Health and Safety knowledge
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to work outside regular hours as the need arises


  • First Aid certificate/training
  • Experience within an education environment

Terms and Conditions

  • Occasional weekend work may be required to support the needs of the Foundation.
  • Additional three Saturday Open mornings a year to be worked at normal time

Salary: £14,252 per annum (inclusive of holiday pay)

Hours Per Week: 30 hours per week, 45 weeks per year.
