Director Of Pupil Welfare

To support the Deputy Head Pastoral, Cheltenham College seeks to fill the new and exciting position of Director of Pupil Welfare. The successful applicant will be an experienced professional with extensive knowledge of the needs of young people; ideally in a school environment.

Very much a hands-on role, the Director of Pupil Welfare will be responsible for line managing and building robust links between key Pastoral departments such as Matrons, the Health Centre and Student Support Services to name a few, as well as providing on-call emergency cover for welfare incidents.

Not only will the successful applicant be a strong leader, but they will also be a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with colleagues at all levels, parents and external agencies. A positive outlook is essential as well as the ability to work efficiently on multiple cases with short timescales.

This role could suit a former pastoral lead, or someone with significant school counselling/health care experience.

This is a full time role that will include some weekend and evening work during College’s term time (33 weeks). Accommodation may be available and the salary will be commensurate with experience.

Closing date for applications is 6pm prompt on Monday, 24 February 2020. Interviews are scheduled to take place in the week commencing 2 March 2020.

Please click on the Apply Now button to download an application and supplementary information form, or contact the HR Department via the number in the contact details to ask for the forms to be posted to you.

Please note that a completed application form is required in addition to a CV and covering letter. CVs alone will not be accepted.  They must be returned electronically to the email address, or by post to the contact details given in the advert on the College website.

Cheltenham College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in its recruitment and selection of job applicants and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
