Volunteer Growlers Supporter

Cheltenham, Gloucester

About Gloucestershire Growlers Visually Impaired County Cricket Club

The Gloucestershire Growlers have been the county’s representatives in the world of blind cricket since 2012. They welcome blind and partially sighted people with an interest in keeping active and having fun. We aim to give the visually impaired in and around the county the opportunity to take part in sport and socialise with others who understand the impact of having a visual impairment. Although we play to win, team spirit is more important to us than results and we pride ourselves on our unique Growler camaraderie! The team are part of the BCEW Southern Regional League, playing matches during the summer months. We also train regularly - Hatherly and Reddings CC in Cheltenham in the warmer weather, and indoors in Gloucester during the winter. Our players are of all ages, both male and female. Anyone aged 11+ can play in league games.

Volunteering with us

We really value the support of sighted volunteers, who are an integral  part of the team. We are looking for open-minded people with a good sense of humour to enable us to grow the club. We want to reach as many people with a visual impairment as possible to improve their wellbeing.

What will I be doing as a volunteer with the Growlers?

  • Helping players locate changing rooms and toilets
  • Preparing and delivering drinks at breaks
