Responsible to: Production Leader
Department:  Upholstery
Hours: Part time

Due to the continuing growth and success of our business, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Carpenter to join our team working in our Upholstery Unit at our premises in Cheltenham. The main items which are made are Headboards and Divan Bases.

Our business provides “everything you need for a great night’s sleep” to both consumers – via our website www.thecotswoldbedcompany.com, together with Universities, Schools, and Hotels both here in the UK and around the world. Our luxury products include Mattresses, Bed Linen, Bedding, Headboards, Fragrant Candles, and Fashion accessories.

Key responsibilities:

Making bedframes for our upholstery team. Some ad hoc handyman jobs around the factory. General factory maintenance/tidiness.

Your job will involve: -

  • Cutting of wood and developing our bed frames
  • Helping to create new procedures
  • Assisting with the day to day manufacturing process, including the moving of materials, loading and unloading of goods.
  • Ad hoc handyman jobs around the factory as and when required
  • A willingness to get stuck into all jobs and help the team

Key Skills Required:

  • Woodworking/carpentry experience- may suit recently qualified apprentice
  • A desire to develop skills in frame making
  • Diligent and hardworking personality and a flexible attitude to learning new skills
  • The willingness to learn how to make a good quality product with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work well in a small team and be prepared to get stuck into all tasks
  • Physically fit as some lifting is required
  • Ability to use own initiative and to work quickly to meet production deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment.

Benefits – Excellent hourly rate to include 20 days holiday pro rata plus bank holidays and optional workplace pension.

Hours – Part time

About you:

In order to be considered for this role you must possess the following: -

  • Previous experience in woodworking/frame making
  • Would suit young person willing to learn
  • Would also suit older person looking for part time work
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to work well within a team environment as well as the ability to work under your      own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience of working in a production environment is desirable but not essential
