Finance Controller

Cheltenham

The Henson and Andrews Group incorporates Henson and Andrews Ltd (agriculture and media) and the Cotswold Farm Park Ltd, a leading tourism attraction owned and operated by Duncan Andrews and Adam Henson. Adam also works as a television presenter on BBC Countryfile. The Group are also joint owners of Cotswold Farming Limited, an agricultural contracting company. The Group’s office is located on our working farm in the heart of the Cotswolds.

We are recruiting a Finance Controller to join our enthusiastic and entrepreneurial team. Reporting to the Joint Managing Directors, the successful applicant will be responsible for the integrity of our business financial controls and systems.

Role and Responsibilities

This is a permanent part-time position working 24 hours/week, with the potential to rise as responsibilities increase in due course.

This is a diverse and interesting role, including the following responsibilities:

Management
• Oversee the finance function of our three companies
• Manage the Accounts Assistant

Accounting Functions
• Create and process monthly journals, including inter-company transactions
• Process prepayments/accruals and review and update on a regular basis
• Balance sheet reconciliation
• Maintain stock records
• Creditor and Debtor control
• Ensure Chart of Accounts remains complete and up to date
• Fixed Asset Register – update on a regular basis and ensure information agrees with Sage
• HP – process HP journals as required
• Project costs – analyse costs associated with project work
• Manage all taxation

Procedures and Systems
• Ensure financial procedures are in place and regularly review, working with managers across the companies to ensure controls are adhered to on a day-to-day basis
• Manage Sage 50 ensuring this is reconciled and the Chart of Accounts maintained
• Contracts – analyse costs required across all businesses with regard to contracts with suppliers
• Integration of business management and financial IT systems

Monthly Management Accounts
• Monthly management accounts preparation
• Monthly financial reports to be presented to the Company Directors and Senior Management Team

Statutory Accounts

• Working with the group accountants, produce pre-year end management information
• Collate financial information for year end and creation of financial statements
• Preparation and completion of Statutory Accounts
• Liaise closely with group accountants and ensure all filing deadlines are met
• Maintain company statutory registers

Budgets and Cash Flows
• Work with Senior Management Team to produce annual budgets and resolve financial queries
• Review budgets on a quarterly basis
• Cash flow and profit forecasting
• Modelling new projects and opportunities

Skills/Attributes Required

1. CIMA Professional Qualification or ACCA qualified, having completed business management modules, or qualified by minimum 10 years relevant experience
2. Proven management accountancy experience, preferably in a Group Company structure
3. A "can do" approach that seeks to simplify financial reporting, i.e. develop, implement and lead an integrated and effective method of producing standard monthly management accounting, cash management, forecasting and cost management
4. Demonstrable experience of actively working with a business management team to bring about growth and increasing productivity
5. Business acumen
6. Ability to effectively organise and prioritise workload
7. Proven ability to implement financial efficiencies
8. A friendly and open approach that effectively manages everyone's expectations both internally and externally
9. Professionalism, integrity and honesty
10. Ability to work quickly and accurately to deadlines and to consistently high standards
11. Due to our location a driving licence and own transport will be necessary
