Part Time, Temporary Trusts and Grants Fundraising Assistant (0.6 FTE)

Do you have strong communication skills with the ability to produce concise and persuasive prose?  If so, we are seeking a part-time Trusts and Grants Fundraising Assistant for approximately 14 months to cover maternity leave.

Reporting to:  Head of Trusts and Grants

Location:  Head Office, Cheltenham

Contract length: Up to 14 months from 15th July 2019

Role Summary

To work as part of the Trusts and Grants team, ensuring the growth and development of income generated from trusts, grant funders and statutory bodies, as agreed and directed by the Head of Trusts and Grants.  Direct account handling of donor relationships.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Trusts and Grants to identify, research, approach and secure income from relevant funding bodies, taking the lead on specific applications, as directed.
• Attend monthly one to one meetings with the Head of Trusts and Grants, agreeing rolling objectives and tracking success towards them throughout the year.
• Prepare funding applications, progress reports and any other communications for trusts and grants including relevant partnership agreements, in order to maximise income and long-term revenue streams.
• Be responsible for account managing existing funders, ensuring that a record of restricted grants is maintained and funding is applied as required.
• Ensure current and prospective funder information is kept up to date on the database and future tasks and next actions are set for relevant team members.
• Research new sources of funding from charitable trusts and grants to maximise long-term support from these sources with national scope.

  • Assist the Head of Trusts and Grants to put together service user data, case studies and budgets working closely with FST, Finance/IT and Communications.
  • Other ad hoc tasks and projects, as deemed appropriate by the Head of Trusts and Grants.
  • Work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people at all times.
  • Adhere to Winston’s Wish policies and procedures.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal with an ability to produce concise and persuasive prose.
  • Strong organisation administrative/prioritising skills
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, to motivate and facilitate others
  • IT literacy (Outlook, Microsoft Office, internet, database)
  • Commitment to evaluate monitoring of programmes
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Fast learner

Desirable

  • An understanding of the wider funding environment and changing trends in the
  • voluntary sector.
  • Some experience of bid writing or report writing
  • Understanding of child bereavement

Salary and Benefits
