HR Business Partner

Cheltenham

We are a busy, fast paced HR team supporting CBH across 5 sites in Cheltenham. You will be based at Cheltenham House, Clarence Street, but regularly working from our other sites. There may only be 4 of us in the team looking after 195 colleagues but we all work together and support each other to achieve CBH’s goals. We are all HR generalists and support each other with casework but primarily the business is divided into two main service areas to help the HR Business Partners provide a more focused and bespoke service to our diverse clients. Our payroll and accounts are handled by a separate department, which we work closely with. HR can therefore be focused on employment relations, people issues and wellbeing. CBH is all about innovation and creativity and so as HR reps we are involved in a vast amount of groups and projects so there is never a dull moment! You will be responsible for delivering a full range of HR activities to support the provision of a comprehensive HR service. You will ensure that all HR activities enable CBH to attract, retain and develop high calibre colleagues. You will provide an excellent customer service to internal and external customers and support the Head of HR to deliver the People Plan.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Provide professional advice to managers on all aspects of people management and to work as a partner on all aspects of HR management; including (but not exhaustive) recruitment, sickness management, capability, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, training and development
• Meet with managers on a regular basis to discuss: service requirements, resolve on going issues and problems, provide advice and training on the application of CBH’s policies and employment legislation
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of employment law and changing workforce practices; consider implications to CBH to develop and make continual improvements to the HR service
• Support in the development, implementation and review of HR policies and procedures, ensuring that they reflect best practice and comply with the latest legislation and relevant case law
• Be the main point of contact for learning and development at CBH. Assess training and development needs for colleagues. Identify cost effective training solutions to meet the individual and business need in line with the budget. Take the lead in the development of and promotion of the LMS system
• Consider the most cost effective recruitment solutions to enable CBH to attract and recruit high calibre colleagues
• Develop and promote good working relationships with Trade Union representatives to support a good employee relations environment
• Create reports as required; analysing, interpreting and presenting statistical data and information, e.g. exit interviews, training & development
• Participate in working groups and attend meetings as required and lead on specific pieces of work with a HR focus

Knowledge/ Skills / Experience
Essential:

• CIPD qualified or equivalent experience of working in an HR advisory capacity
• Excellent employment law knowledge and evidence of continuous professional development
• Experience of building positive relationships with managers and Trade Union Representatives
• Effective and adaptable interpersonal and influencing skills
• Evidence of producing and analysing workforce information, including report writing
• Experience of producing and reviewing HR policies and procedures
• IT literate; proficient use of Microsoft products in particular Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database packages
• Advanced working knowledge of recruitment, sickness management, capability, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, training and development
• Good general knowledge on payroll, pensions, E&D and H&S

Desirable

• Knowledge of Social Housing

Salary: starting at £30,908 per annum, with annual increments to £32,233 per annum (Grade G)
