Experienced Legal Cashier

Bourton on the Water

This is a busy, demanding role where accuracy and attention to detail, professionalism and speed are essential. The work is varied and you will interact with most of the other members of the firm in your day-to-day duties.

Daily duties include:

  • Investigating and resolving any unposted items
  • Processing all inward payments by reference to online banking service
  • Advising file holders of any monies received
  • Processing cheques received/responsibility for banking
  • Raising cheques requested by file holders
  • Posting entries for Office account, standing orders and direct debits
  • Raising electronic payments requested by file holders, including property completions
  • Checking of invoices/completion statements as required
  • Opening new Client/Matter records for clients
  • Maintaining client records by closing Accounts records when matters are finished
  • Arranging payment of search fee invoices
  • Posting of Land Registry entries and Court fees
  • Posting of sales invoices, purchase ledger invoices and payments
  • Dealing with daily outward post for Accounts

Other duties include:

  • Reconciling and posting petty cash entries for the 4 offices as required
  • Calculating and applying client interest as required
  • Cancellation of stale cheques
  • Monitoring and chasing any unapplied credits posted to Suspense account
  • Deputise for Practice Manager in their absence and assisting them as required
  • Dealing with any telephone queries from all offices
  • Making transfers between Client and Office accounts at the bank as required
  • Complying with Solicitors Accounts Rules, Money Laundering Regulations and VAT requirements in all aspects of the role
  • Recording any breaches and notifying COFA
  • Adhering to cyber security
  • Previous experience of working as a legal cashier within a private practice law firm is essential.

Other skills required:

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise
  • Knowledge and experience of using MS Office including Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

This is a full time position based at our Bourton on the Water office and the hours of work are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Salary dependent on experience.

Thirty days holiday per annum, inclusive of Bank Holidays.

Salary: £24000 - £28000 dependent upon experience

Hours Per Week: Full Time
