Last week, the Office for National Statistics released the Labour Market Overview, UK: April 2024. This report estimates employment, unemployment, economic inactivity and other employment-related statistics for the UK. According to the report, the ratio of unemployed individuals to job vacancies increased from 1.4 to 1.6 between December 2023 and February 2024. This rise is attributed to a decrease in available job vacancies coupled with an increase in unemployment rates. This suggests a higher number of applicants potentially applying per job opening.
