Job description

Gloucestershire College is seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Safeguarding.

This is a pivotal position within the organisation and we are looking for an experienced professional who will oversee and implement the delivery of the safeguarding (including PREVENT) and child protection operation through effective leadership of the safeguarding team across three campuses.

You must be able to display a thorough awareness and understanding of, and compliance with, legislation, policies and procedures and a commitment to ensuring the safety of young people.  Key responsibilities include the successful monitoring, tracking and reporting of the service including business plan delivery and key performance indicators.

We are looking for someone that acts with balance, integrity and fairness to join our talented management team and work closely with the Executive Designated Safeguarding Lead and Director of Student Employment & Experience.

As a Head of Safeguarding, you will:

Lead on ensuring that robust safeguarding operational procedures and processes are in place to include: early identification strategies, recording, monitoring and reporting in line with government legislation and best practice, to ensure that the needs of the child are met
Link with external organisations to build knowledge, understanding and relationships with key partners
Provide dynamic and effective line management, supervision and day-to-day operational support to Student Officers across three campuses. Lead on and promote timely developmental activities for the safeguarding team to enrich knowledge, skills and resilience
Lead on equality and diversity issues concerning students and ensure compliance with legal requirements

Skills and Experience include:

Recent and direct experience of safeguarding young people in a school or other relevant organisation
A successful track record of implementing safeguarding strategy and driving organisational change
Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding training
Ability to work with a wide range of people with aim of securing the best outcome for students
