Programme Manager (Schools & Apprenticeships) – Education - Job ID: 68441

Purpose

The primary responsibilities will be to manage the operation of School Business Management (SBM) programmes and associated projects in order to fulfil and exceed contract objectives, as well as to manage the operation of one of our Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship (SLMDA) programmes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the operational management of the contract within the Leadership Development Team (Serco Education) for the SBM core programmes; contribute to strategic planning and policy formation, implementation and evaluation
  • Liaising with our SBM partner organisation (Adfecto), develop and maintain the project plan for the SBM core programmes
  • Produce monthly summative financial and resource data for the core SBM programmes  to support forecasting and accountability
  • Develop and support the SBM core programmes marketing strategy so that participant take up is increased
  • Identify and manage operational risks associated with the SBM core programmes; manage change to the SBM core programmes or its delivery
  • Manage relationships with Adfecto to ensure the effective delivery of the SBM core programmes
  • Lead and direct the operational management of the Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship (SLMDA) SENCO (or other higher apprenticeship) contributing to strategic planning and policy formation, implementation and evaluation
  • Liaising with our partner organisation, develop and maintain the project plan for the SLMDA SENCO cohorts
  • Produce monthly summative financial and resource data for SLMDA SENCO to support forecasting and accountability
  • Develop and support the SLMDA SENCO marketing strategy so that participant enrolments are increased
  • Identify and manage operational risks associated with SLMDA SENCO
  • Maintain good communications and strong professional links with all personnel involved in the Education team
  • Manage the performance and motivation of individuals within the Education team, supporting learning and development of direct reports to improve performance and job satisfaction.

Key skills required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written, verbal, electronic and telephone – and able to adapt to the audience (mostly schools professionals)
  • Project management, especially in an education, training or online environment
  • Experience of working with web-based learning platforms and databases will be required; excellent office IT skills essential
  • Experience of managing apprenticeship, training or professional development programmes desirable
  • Experience of studying at level 5 or above
  • An understanding of apprenticeship or ESFA funding regulations desirable
  • Experience of working under pressure to meet participant expectations
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills; ability to operate at all levels
  • Commitment to personal development and learning
  • Manage own workload, anticipate and escalate issues as they arise and be able to thrive under pressure
