Marketing and Events Assistant

Cheltenham

Status – Full Time or willing to consider Part Time (some out of hours work may be required occasionally to support events)

1. Introduction

This is an exciting new opportunity with the One More One Group, best known within Gloucestershire for the Memsahib Gin & Tea Bar, for either a full time or part time person who is newly qualified or has had experience and has a passion for marketing. You will be working as part of a small and enthusiastic management team. The role and responsibilities for the Marketing Assistant are outlined below.

2. Description of role and responsibilities

Role Summary

This key role will be responsible for:

  • Implementing an annual programme of marketing activity to both generate bookings and online sales and boost the businesses profile.
  • Running marketing campaigns for seasonal calendar events, such as Christmas, New Year and Valentines Day.
  • Promoting the Memsahib Gin & Tea Bar programme of events, ensuring the highest possible level of attendance. Also promoting private events and party bookings.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of the group’s Marketing and PR activities including the website, email newsletter, digital marketing, direct marketing, literature, public relations and social media.
  • Building and maintaining customer and newsletter databases.
  • Supporting the Management teams in preparing high quality copy.

Full training and support will be offered as required.

Responsibilities

Sales Support

• Plan, implement and evaluate a programme of cost effective marketing campaigns to generate bookings.
• Utilise digital marketing, email newsletters, advertising, social media and any other methods that have a proven ability to generate bookings or online sales cost effectively.

Customer database

• Ensure that all customer database is up-to-date and that all the information required to implement marketing campaigns is captured, including opt-in for General Data Protection Regulation purposes.
• Produce regular newsletters that build loyalty and encourage bookings.

Website

• Maintain and update the company’s website.
• Ensure that news stories and blogs are regularly added.
• Monitor, report on and increase the amount of visitors to the websites.
• Monitor the websites’ natural positions against key search terms and utilise Search Engine Optimisation as and when required.
• Drive traffic to the websites by active use of social media.
• Seek to capture information from as many of the visitors to the website as possible.

Literature

• Maintain and introduce literature that effectively promotes the business.

Public relations

• Maintain a regular programme of press releases and news stories on company news, awards, new appointments and promotions.

Social Media

• Responsible for all aspects of Social Media including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin (and other social media platforms as they emerge).
• Post messages and updates on a regular basis.
• Run paid for campaigns as and when required, continually reviewing performance to optimise spend.
• Through social media seek opportunities for engagement, conversations and providing expertise/help. Respond to messages and comments via the company pages.
• Increase and report on social media statistics on a regular basis.
• Monitor social media for booking opportunities.
• Seek to drive traffic to the website via social media and monitor this via Google Analytics.
• Maintain the Google My Business profile, posting updates and responding to reviews.

Events

• Liaising with third parties to agree details of events and arrangements.
• Where these events are Memsahib Gin & Tea Bar hosted events, setting them up on Eventbrite.
• Publicising these events utilising all the tools at your disposal including the website, customer newsletter, social media, Google My Business, with the aim of maximising the attendance.

Budget control

• Manage the budget to ensure that it remains within planned spend levels and that the maximum return on investment is achieved.
• Report on a quarterly basis, spend against budget.
• Ensure cost effective use of the marketing budget at all times and obtain comparative costings whenever possible.

External suppliers / partners

• Selecting, managing and liaising with external suppliers as and when required.
• Liaising with relevant third parties including Visit Cheltenham, Cheltenham BID and Cotswold Tourism.

Other Group tasks

• Performing marketing tasks for other aspects of the One More One Group as and when required by the Managing Director.

3. Requirements

Essential:

• Strong verbal and written communicator
• Ability to learn new tasks quickly

• Self motivated
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Social media knowledge
• A keen focus on return on investment.
• Computer literate (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Excel, Canva, Mailchimp)

Desirable:

• Previous experience in marketing
• Some experience of the hospitality sector would be beneficial
