Payroll and Accounts Payable Manager

Gloucester

Clarkson Evans is the largest electrical contractor in the new build housing sector, wiring over 24,000 homes and exceeding turnover of £60m in a typical year. Headquartered in Gloucester and established for over 40 years, we work for all of the leading house builders, operating nationwide. Based at our head office in Staverton, Gloucester, you’ll will take responsibility to ensure the prompt and accurate payment of all our staff wages and our supplier invoices, whilst leading a team of 4, who are cross trained in both Payroll and Accounts Payable.

Working closely with staff in other departments to process the payroll for circa 850 employees for both weekly and monthly payrolls you’ll need previous payroll experience and expert knowledge of the payroll function, so you can quickly get to grips with a range of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that all staff are paid accurately and on time
• Processing weekly payroll for circa 650 employees within Sage Payroll
• Processing monthly payroll for circa 200 employees within Sage Payroll
• Calculation of statutory payments e.g SSP / SMP/ SPP
• Taking ownership for the resolution of queries raised from employees
• Processing employee expense and mileage claims
• Processing BACS payments
• Maintenance of employee pay and holiday records within our in-house software
• Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and making recommendations for change when appropriate
• Oversight of the Purchase ledger function ensuring resources are correctly allocated to meet target deadlines

Required Experience

• Experienced in the full Payroll process
• Previous experience of working in Accounts Payable is desirable
• Experience of Sage 200 and Sage Payroll

• A can-do attitude, along with the confidence and communication skills to contribute ideas effectively
• Excellent customer service
• Strong team leader
• An understanding of payroll legislation
