Job description
National Star are seeking inspirational tutors to join our team delivering high quality programmes for young people with a range of disabilities and support needs. Our community includes autistic students, those with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI), multisensory impairments, and/ or Multiple Learning and/ or physical disabilities.

With an understanding of a post 16 curriculum that prepares young people for adulthood, you will have experience of planning and delivering innovative and person-centred sessions to young people with complex learning difficulties and disabilities.  You will ideally hold a relevant teaching qualification or hold a level 3 or 4 professional qualification and  be willing to work towards a teaching qualification at Diploma level. We would be especially keen to hear from you if you have experience delivering a curriculum for: Digital Literacy / Digital Technology, Social Enterprise, English and Maths within a SEND (Special Education Needs) environment.

Your assessment of starting points, teaching skills that support young people to develop their skills, knowledge and experience for the wider world, as well as recognition and recording of progress, will meet required professional standards and ensure high quality provision for our students.

It goes without saying that you will be a first-class communicator, who is creative, proactive and forward-thinking. You will need to possess excellent team working skills to successfully collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders to maximise learning, independence and wellbeing in order to enable students to achieve aspirational and personalised outcomes

Due to the expansion of our Learning Programmes service, we have a number of opportunities available, including  full time, part time (min 3 days) permanent and temporary options, so whatever you are looking for, please get in touch.

This recruitment will be focussed at our main site in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (GL53 9QU) – we can help with transport from central Cheltenham or Gloucester if required.   However we do also have provisions in Hereford, Worcester and near Pontypool in South Wales – if you are looking for opportunities in these areas please register your interest with us for an informal discussion about upcoming opportunities.

National Star College is at the forefront of innovative teaching practice. Join our team and develop your career to become an expert in the field of specialist education.
