Child & Family Counsellor/Psychotherapist

Gloucester, Cheltenham

Established as a charity more than 40 years ago, Gloucestershire Counselling Service
(GCS) is the major provider of counselling and training services in Gloucestershire.
Providing counselling to thousands of individuals, families and young people every
year. Due to the growth of our services, we are now seeking two committed and
enthusiastic Professionally Accredited Counsellors or Psychotherapists to join our
Child & Family Counselling Service.

JOB TITLE: Child & Family Counsellor/Psychotherapist

REPORTING TO: Clinical Services Managers (CSMs)

PURPOSE: To provide assessment and ongoing Child and Family
Counselling/Psychotherapy to families with children aged 0-18 across
Gloucestershire.

CONTRACT AVAILABLE:
7 hours per week up (5 client hours and 2 hours admin/clinical supervision)
14 hours per week (10 client hours, 4 hours admin/clinical supervision)
21 hours per week (15 client hours, 6 hours admin/clinical supervision).

LOCATION: Gloucester City Centre based (Ladybellegate Street) or Cheltenham
Town Centre based (Rodney Road) or Stroud (High Street).

SALARY: £24,000 - £29,500 pro rata, depending on experience.

ANNUAL LEAVE: pro rata of 25 days (plus bank holidays)

VACANCY: STAFF COUNSELLOR/PSYCHOTHERAPIST POSTS

We are looking to recruit 2 experienced part-time counsellor/Psychotherapists within
the Child & Family Service (C&FCS) at GCS to work primarily from our Gloucester
venue and also across Stroud/Cheltenham. This exciting team has developed over
the last few years and is looking forward to further growth. We are looking for a
dynamic counsellor to join the shaping of this development.

The C&FCS offers a counselling and psychotherapy service to families, including adults,
children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in family life. Our
counsellors and therapists provide individual, specialist therapeutic intervention for
individuals or multiples of the family unit. We can offer short and long-term support,
some of which is funded.

We provide a safe confidential place for children, young people and adults to talk to a
skilled counsellor/therapist who will listen and help understand and make sense of
feelings and the situation. We have family rooms supplied with resources to support
creative interventions.

1.5 hours group clinical supervision is provided on a fortnightly basis.

THE APPOINTED COUNSELLOR SHOUD BE:

• BACP, UKCP accredited or equivalent.
• An experienced counsellor, psychotherapist or family therapist with two years
post-qualifying supervised practice and
• Child and Adolescence post graduate qualification or proven experience of
working with Children and families in a therapeutic setting.
• Have an Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Flexible and motivated to develop the role.
