Quality Controller (Optics)

Gloucester

Our client is based in Gloucester and specialises in spectacle lens supply. This family business was established over 60 years ago yet is being constantly modernised to meet today’s forever changing technology.

We are excited to recruit for two confident and motivated Optical Checkers, who can demonstrate a high attention to detail, possess a meticulous approach to their work and have experience in optical quality assurance.

Role purpose: To provide quality assurance through comprehensive and consistent checking of optical lenses.

Job Specification

Responsibilities

• Check prescription docket matches customer order
• Verify frame specifications and lenses against order requirements.
• Ensure that sphere, cylinder and axis are within the acceptable tolerance range
• Ensure optical centre, segment/varifocal height are within acceptable tolerance range
• Check requirement of lens tint to be administered (eg; colour and density)
• Check prism to be within the acceptable tolerance range in value and direction
• Verify that the correct coating has been applied and is blemish free
• Ensure Both eye sizes the same size and shape
• Ensure lenses are sufficiently clean with no mark marks visible
• Checkthe correct care card has been issued (if applicable)
• Report any non-conforming orders to Supervisor for necessary corrective action.
• Provide final quality assurance stamp against customers specification
• Converse with colleagues and work as a team.
• Deal promptly with any issues that may have an adverse effect on the department.
• To provide support to the OpticalManager and Production Managers.

Salary: £18,138 pa (depending on experience)

Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week (early and late shift patterns)
