Salary / Scale: Scale 3 currently £18,951 - £20,199 pro rata per annum

Location: Prism House, Waterwells

Part Time: 22.2 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity is offered with Gloucestershire Constabulary as an Intelligence Researcher. This is a part time and permanent role working in the Constabulary’s Analysis & Research team. If any Part time or Full time Intelligence Researcher vacancies arise within the next 12 months candidates who successfully pass this recruitment process (assessment and interview) will be contacted and offered a position.

Working alongside our Intelligence Analysts, the main purpose of this varied role is to provide timely, detailed and accurate information from a wide variety of sources. This information will assist analysts and police officers with the identification of crime patterns, prolific and dangerous offenders and emerging threats. The research undertaken will help inform and influence decisions allowing for the effective deployment of operational resources. The team is predominantly based in Quedgeley, but there are also staff based at Stroud and Cheltenham.

The post holder will be required to demonstrate:

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to grasp new concepts and techniques and integrate them into the workplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain the results of often complex research.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and catalogue new sources of information.
  • Proven problem solving skills and an enquiring mind.
  • A high level of computer literacy, including a demonstrable working knowledge of computer software applications including MS Office software
  • Organisational and time management skills with the ability to work on your own initiative or with the minimum of supervision is essential

In addition to the above requirements it would be desirable for the post holder to have:

  • An understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and/or the intelligence cycle, particularly as it relates to law-enforcement activity.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and Human Rights legislation
