Logistics Supervisor

Based in Tewkesbury

Holidays: 20 days + Bank holidays per annum

Must be able to work at temperatures of -21°C.

Valid forklift license required. Pivot steer license preferable.

Job Role Summary

The purpose of the Logistics Supervisor is to oversee the daily operations of storage and distribution of company products whilst ensuring that food safety, health & safety and all relevant company processes are being adhered to.

Responsible To: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities

Direct line manager for all delivery drivers and warehouse staff.

  • Managing delivery routes to maximising customer service whilst trying to reduce travel miles.
  • Ensuring that staff are carrying out their roles in line with their job description and staff handbook.
  • Monitoring and recording delivery driver’s hours.
  • Directly responsible for all questions or issues within logistics team.
  • Directly responsible for holidays and sickness cover.

To ensure that products are received, stored, and distributed in line with the company’s food safety policy and in line with BRC standard.

  • Following company guidelines with regard to HACCP.    
  • Monitoring of all company food safety data sheets.
  • Ensuring that food safety documentation is completed, and records are maintained.

Maintenance and cleanliness of warehousing.

  • Ensuring there is adequate reporting of any damages or necessary works that need attention.
  • Completion all daily / weekly tasks as laid out in company cleaning schedule.
  • To keep cold store clean, free of obstructions and ice.
  • All warehousing equipment is serviced and maintained as laid out in relevant service schedules.

Ensuring that orders are loaded / delivered.

  • Accurately
  • On time
  • In good condition

Stock control measures are implemented and controlled.

  • Stock rotation is carried out by using first in first out (FIFO)
  • Stock levels are accurate.
  • Stock takes to be completed in line with company stock take process.
  • Directly responsible for identifying stock that is not stored in line with FIFO requirements.

Maintenance, appearance, and safety of company vehicles (including cars)

  • All mechanical services re carried out as necessary / scheduled.
  • All freezer services are carried out 6 monthly and records kept.
  • Ensure that delivery drivers clean inside delivery vehicles daily and outside weekly or more frequently if deemed necessary.
  • Vehicle safety sheets are completed by delivery drivers daily and checked and signed by Logistics Supervisor weekly.
  • Directly responsible for the safety, legality, and road worthiness of all vehicles

Ensure site security is always maintained.

  • Take reasonable precautions to protect the company’s property.
  • Challenge any unauthorised personnel on site.
  • Report and incidents of misconduct.
