School Cleaner


Required as soon as possible

Line Manager: Cleaning Supervisor

The Headmaster is looking to appoint a cleaner to work within the School for 6 hours per day.

The School
The King’s School Gloucester has a rich academic tradition dating back to its founding in 1541. It houses the longest serving classroom in Europe and is held in high esteem amongst the local and wider community, winning the SoGlos Independent School of the Year in 2020 and 2021. The School strives for excellence in all areas: the academic results are strong with student value added being equivalent to half a grade at GCSE; there is a wide-ranging sport provision and pupils reach national levels every year; in Music, our links with Gloucester Cathedral provide an ideal location for high quality orchestral and choral music; finally, the creative arts enjoy much success with DT and Art having their own dedicated design spaces.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Carry out general cleaning duties as detailed in the job description
• Be punctual and reliable
• Manage their time effectively to complete tasks to a high level
• Prioritise their work
• To work with minimum supervision
• Work both individually and within a team to achieve specified standards
• Take instructions from the Cleaning Supervisor
• Take pride in a job well done
• Respect and value the different skills, ideas and experience others can bring to work and to cleaning
• Demonstrate an understanding of why customer care is important in employment and service delivery
• Undertake any training relevant to your role
• Be in good health

The successful candidate will be:
• Able to communicate clearly, understand and follow instructions
• Expected to have some experience of undertaking general cleaning duties

Hours of Work
The post is for 6 hours per day, Monday to Friday; 06:00am to 09:00am and 15:30 to 18:30pm. This is a term time position but flexibility will be required, and occasional extra hours may be required at evenings and weekends or around busier times such as INSET or other events with additional remuneration for the extra hours worked.
