SoGlos Kickstart job opportunities

There are some exciting new roles within the SoGlos team – with applications now open for editorial, social media, advertising and administrative assistants, as part of the government’s Kickstart scheme.

Taking part in valuable work experience placements was how all of SoGlos’s journalists got their first insight into the media industry and we feel it’s important to share the same opportunity with enthusiastic individuals, by taking part in the government’s new Kickstart scheme.

Launched to give meaningful paid work experience in the exciting world of digital media to young people at the start of a variety of career paths, SoGlos’s Kickstart roles are being run in partnership with Gloucestershire College, who will also be providing further training opportunities to our Kickstarters.

Applicants must be aged 16-24 and in receipt of Universal Credit to apply. All roles meet the National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage standard, are based at SoGlos’s offices on Imperial Square in Cheltenham and are for 25-hours a week over a six-month period.

We are taking applications from 26 March 2021 and hope to start the positions as soon as possible, however start dates can be staggered until December 2021 for the right candidates.

Social media assistant at SoGlos

The role of social media assistant at SoGlos involves researching, writing and crafting snappy and visually-appealing posts for SoGlos’s social media channels – particularly Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn; working on strategies to grow these audiences; and providing support to the Editorial Hub team.

You will have an exceptional understanding of social media and a keen eye for detail; have a positive, can-do attitude; and be enthusiastic about working in a team.
