Network Engineer

Stonehouse

Department: Network Operations
Reports to: Head of Networks and Infrastructure

As a leading IP Voice provider, with aspirations for pan-European growth, we have a unique opportunity for a network engineer to add to our highly technical Network Operations team. This role will see you implementing, configuring and looking after networks and systems for VoiP (Hosted and SIP) as well as our ISP network.

The daily duties will include:

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Implement and support the network design in eve Network's chosen locations
• Work with the Service Desk team within eve Networks to carry out escalated support, improve the support processes and feedback/communicate with the team.
• Occasionally to support our customer's partners in the implementation and support of their own customer installations including some out of hours on call duty
• To monitor and maintain the network infrastructure with respect to the Hosted VOIP, SBCs, and Data Network and respond to and resolve any faults that may arise using diagnostic tools and vendor support
• To implement updates and changes to ensure security of the network infrastructure in line with documented processes
• Assist systems engineers and developers

Technical Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Good understanding of the design, integration and support of data networks.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritising multiple objectives and initiatives.
• Strong client service oriented and ability to interact with clients, staff, and management teams.
• Good verbal and written business communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, with a high degree of initiative, and within a collaborative team environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• The ability to install and maintain complex solutions in an ever evolving market place.
• The ability to problem solve in a logical manner in order to rectify customer issues efficiently.
• The ability and drive to learn and work with new technologies and products as required.

Experience Required:

• Working towards, or willing to work towards Juniper (or Cisco) certifications
• Good knowledge of IP Voice / SIP
• Experience or working knowledge of call routing using Session Border Controllers (SBCs) highly desirable
• Ability to use Wireshark as an analysis tool to debug VOIP traces. (SIP & RTP)
• Working knowledge of Hosted Voice platforms (e.g. Broadsoft, Telepo) an advantage
• Proficient in the operation and management of routers and switches including experience with BGP, OSPF and load balancing
• Strong working knowledge of data communications including: TCP/UDP/IP, routing, tunneling
• Working knowledge of voice prioritisation including QoS and VLANS
• Working knowledge of Linux with DNS and Radius administration an advantage
