Family Support Practitioner

Salary:  £27514 - £34373

52 weeks per year, 37 hours per week, which can be negotiated at interview
Permanent contract

We are seeking to recruit a Family Support Practitioner to join our Inclusion Team to provide support to students and their families.  You would provide accurate and holistic assessment of a child and their family needs in line with the Gloucestershire Graduated Pathway in collaboration with the child, their family and other agencies. You will provide individual interventions for students and families for whom this would be beneficial to their social wellbeing, attendance at school and success in their studies. You will also provide regular focused group work. You will liaise with the Assistant Headteacher responsible for inclusion, the DSL/DDSL and the pastoral teams to deliver and signpost access to appropriate sources of support. You will develop supportive relationships with children, parents/carers and teachers, so that help can be given towards the alleviation of problems concerned with school attendance, material difficulties, social and behavioural challenges. You will contribute to the delivery of departmental training related to national and local initiatives and issues.

The successful applicant will hold a social work qualification and will have at least two years’ experience of working with children and adolescents. Some experience of community social work would be beneficial. You will demonstrate effective interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills and have experience of offering a range of social wellbeing interventions. You will have the ability to work holistically with families and the capacity for lone working. You will have experience of working with individuals from different cultures, disabilities, sexual orientations and ages, preferably within a secondary school or other educational setting.

You will be well supported in this role by the Assistant Headteacher responsible for inclusion.
