Telephone Social Prescriber - Voluntary


About the opportunity

To make initial contact with people who have been referred to the Community Wellbeing Service. Social Prescribers assess and find solutions to social issues that may be affecting their health and wellbeing.

The volunteer will work within the Triage team, assessing referrals as they come in, gathering further information, providing immediate signposting to services and resources, and preparing referrals for allocation to Social Prescribers for follow up.

Essential skills and qualities:

• Effective listening and communications skills to work with clients who may have complex needs and come from diverse backgrounds
• Person centered, non-judgmental approach to people with health and social needs
• Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
• Recording and reporting skills, written and verbal
• Problem solving approach and interest in researching solutions and resources

Desirable skills and qualities:

• Experience in the health or social care sectors
• Knowledge of community resources in Tewkesbury and or Cheltenham
• Telephone customer service experience


Practical Considerations

Working hours are negotiable each day within the period of 9.30am to 4.30pm. Induction, training and monthly supervisions will be provided. Expenses will be reimbursed. DBS and references will be required.

Hours Per Week: flexible
