The Role

As Tax Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all tax matters across the Superdry Group. Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will ensure that the Group meets its tax compliance and reporting obligations across all jurisdictions in which we operate. You will manage the relationship with external tax advisors who prepare and submit VAT returns globally, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and strong governance.

You will take ownership of the Group’s overall tax framework, ensuring appropriate controls, policies and processes are in place. With one direct report focused on corporation tax, you will provide leadership, oversight and development support, while retaining accountability for all taxes (excluding payroll taxes and customs duty). This is a broad, hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness and the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

You Will

  • Own and manage the Group’s tax compliance framework across all territories in which we operate.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of all VAT returns globally through our external advisors, acting as the primary relationship lead.
  • Manage and develop one direct report with responsibility for corporation tax compliance and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely corporation tax reporting, including review of tax provisions and disclosures for statutory and Group reporting.
  • Act as the main point of contact for HMRC and overseas tax authorities, building and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, ensuring high-quality advice and value for money.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate tax risks across the Group, implementing appropriate controls and policies.
  • Support the management of the Group’s transfer pricing policies and documentation requirements.
  • Provide clear, practical tax advice to key stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
  • Support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives to enhance tax governance and efficiency.

You Are

  • A qualified tax professional (CTA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience with broad exposure across corporate tax, VAT and international tax matters.
  • Experienced in managing relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Experience in managing and developing direct reports.
  • Technically strong, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into practical business guidance.
  • Commercially aware, understanding the impact of tax on business decisions.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A strong communicator who can build effective relationships across functions and seniority levels.
