£36,400 + bonus 4% of salary 

Fixed term until November 2026

FOR Cardiff is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Wales’ capital, working to make the city a better place to live, work, and visit. We are seeking a skilled and creative Marketing & PR Manager to strengthen our communications and marketing efforts, build our public profile, and help demonstrate the value we deliver to stakeholders across Cardiff.

The Marketing and PR Manager is a key strategic role focused on enhancing the visibility and reputation of FOR Cardiff. The successful candidate will lead on the development and delivery of marketing and PR strategies that communicate our impact, engage key audiences, and strengthen our voice across Cardiff and beyond. You’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our marketing communications—ensuring consistent messaging, innovative content, and strong media relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Campaigns

  • Develop and implement a dynamic marketing strategy aligned with FOR Cardiff’s core objectives.
  • Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns that build brand recognition, drive business engagement, and promote FOR Cardiff’s work.
  • Manage marketing content across digital, social, and print platforms, ensuring brand consistency and impact.
  • Work with designers, agencies, and internal teams to develop creative and engaging content.
  • Monitor campaign performance, using analytics to inform ongoing improvements and report on ROI.

Public Relations, Media Engagement & Public Affairs

  • Shape and deliver PR strategies that secure positive media coverage and raise FOR Cardiff’s profile.
  • Develop and manage relationships with political stakeholders, government bodies, and industry organisations to support FOR Cardiff’s advocacy goals.
  • Monitor developments in the political and business landscape to identify opportunities for proactive engagement.
  • Manage reactive communications and act as a trusted source for accurate and timely information.
  • Draft press releases, statements and briefing materials for senior leadership.

Stakeholder Communications

  • Ensure clear, consistent, and professional communication with FOR Cardiff’s business members and external stakeholders.
  • Produce newsletters, updates, and stakeholder communications that reinforce FOR Cardiff’s value and priorities.
  • Support the Head of Marketing and Executive Director with messaging and materials for external meetings, public speaking, and advocacy.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in marketing and public relations, with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns and media engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to a range of audiences.
  • Strong understanding of brand positioning, campaign development, and media relations.
  • Experience in reactive communications and managing reputational risk.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident working with external partners, agencies, media professionals, and senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Welsh political and economic landscape.
  • Experience in place marketing, business improvement districts, or urban regeneration.
  • Welsh language skills (desirable but not essential).
