Seasonal Retail Assistant

Location: Gloucester City Centre

Contract: Temporary, seasonal

Hours: flexible, including weekends

Pay: Min wage

Reports to: Store Manager

About the role

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Retail Assistant to join our Christmas shop during the festive season. You’ll help customers find decorations, gifts and seasonal products, keep the shop looking welcoming, and deliver excellent service during our busiest time of year.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers and help with product enquiries and purchases.
• Offer advice on Christmas decorations, gifts and seasonal ranges.
• Operate the till and process cash and card payments accurately.
• Handle returns and exchanges in line with shop policy.
• Replenish stock, price products and maintain attractive displays.
• Unpack deliveries and keep the stockroom organised.
• Keep the shop clean, tidy and safe.
• Work with colleagues to manage queues and serve customers efficiently.
• Support opening and closing tasks as required.
• Follow shop procedures for security and health and safety.

About you

• Friendly and approachable, with good communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual and comfortable working in a busy shop.
• A team player who is happy to help wherever needed.
• Accurate when handling payments and checking stock.
• Available to work agreed shifts throughout the Christmas period, including weekends.
• Comfortable spending much of the shift standing and moving stock, with reasonable adjustments where needed.

Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful, but not essential, as training will be provided. An interest in Christmas decorations and creating a welcoming shopping experience would be a bonus.
