St Briavels Parochial C of E Primary School is looking to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant. The post will involve supporting a child with SEND both in the classroom and during play and lunchtimes.
The role will also include working with the child and other groups of children as directed by the SENCo or class teacher.
The position will be for 32.5 hours per week over 5 days per week which will include 1hr per day of MDS duties, at Grade 5 point 11.
We are open to applications from teaching assistants able to work 2 or 3 full days a week.
The post will commence on the 3rd of November and will be term time only.
This post is fixed term to 31st August 2026 initially though may be extended subject to funding.

• Facilitates an enhanced check-in and check-out daily
• Can maintain a calm and consistent approach to working and be dedicated to providing the very best support for children through following SEND plans and risk assessments
• Shares the school’s values of courage, compassion, respect and resilience
• Has a flexible, empathetic and conscientious nature
• Possesses good interpersonal skills and has the ability to work well within a team.
• Engages with training opportunities linked to the children’s SEND needs.
• Can contribute to and follow Education and Healthcare plans and Individual development plans with the guidance of the SENCo.
Applicants must have:
• A good standard of general education, to include literacy and numeracy skills
• NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or other relevant qualification with practical experience of working with children
OR
• Previous experience of working with children in an educational context with evidence of relevant training in the appropriate age range or curriculum / learning area.
It would be beneficial to have:
• Experience working with children with Autism
• Positive handling training
