Sister/Charge Nurse, Band 6 (Maternity Cover)- 32.25 hours a week
The post holder will be professionally accountable for the maintenance of standards and professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines.
They will regularly take charge of the practice setting or defined area of the practice setting / group of patients and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination and direct provision of high standard of holistic, patient centred care by assessing nursing care and health education needs, and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care for each patient.
To be designated to act as a deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility for the organisation and management of the practice setting.
To demonstrate and facilitate others to develop the necessary skills and experience in ward/department management and provide leadership in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
Main duties of the job
Always adhere to the NMC code of practice and operate within the NMC standards of proficiency for Registered Nurses
To act as a resource
Co-ordinate the ward effectively.
Liaise with consultants and site managers about the bed state and ensure safe and efficient flow of patients..
Be able to assist and rotate clinically across the wards and TAU.
Work alongside nursing staff, role modelling, whilst assessing, delivering and evaluating patient care.
Competent in the use of all relevant Trust IT systems including the use of electronic patient record, email, and Trak-Care
Responsible for the administration of clinical procedures/treatments within the specialist area.
To effectively input and retrieve patient and staff information from computer-based systems, specifically Sunrise EPR, Safe Care and other specialist systems and be able to advise and support other team members in their use.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
To administer medication and treatment within Procedure for the Ordering, Prescribing and Administration of Medication Guidelines.
To deliver safe care within a challenging and changing clinical environment, using equipment and resources safely and as appropriate.
To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures and professional code of conduct.
Time management skills and prioritising
Confidence in addressing poor practice and lack of engagement.
Awareness of fairness, equality, and diversity.
