Self Employed Dog Groomer

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Short Bark & Sides Dog Grooming Parlour as a self employed dog groomer on a rent a table , 55/45 basis.

What we offer ?

All customers and their dogs will be supplied from the Short Bark& Sides business along with hydraulic table and shared bath plus wall mounted dryers. All utilities and rent will be covered including wi-fi and a part time administrator to help with appointment bookings. 

We would ask you to work anytime between the hours of 8am-6pm on any days between Monday – Saturday where we are ideally looking for around a 5 day/35-40 hour per  week,  weekly presence.

Free parking is offered plus cleaning supplies, shampoos and shared promotional media posts.

In return we offer a 55/45, groomer/charity split on all dog groom, nail trims and teeth clean (using an emmi-pet) prices set by the Shelter and displayed on our website.

What we are looking for ?

• A fully qualified, to City & Guilds Level 3, dog groomer with a minimum of three years experience in grooming all breeds of dog.
• Able to carry out teeth cleans using the emmi-pet ultrasonic toothbrush system.
• Able to complete handstrips.
• Have your own Personal public liability insurance
• Using your own clippers, scissors, blades and brushes
• IT skills to include using Microsoft Office 365 , internal appointment booking system and taking card and cash payments via a hand held card terminal.

This role will suit an enthusiastic, hardworking and conscientious individual who would enjoy working with within an animal rescue/charity environment and takes pride in their work. An advocate of excellent animal welfare is also required as are excellent customer service and communication skills . The individual must be a good team player as well as on occasions able to work on their own with strong self motivation.

Title: Dog Groomer

Responsible to: General Manager

Responsible to deliver exceptional Dog Grooming services whilst ensuring the highest standard  of care in a safe, calm and welcoming environment.

• Carry out professional full grooms to a high standard in line with owners requirements using excellent scissoring, clipping and breed styling skills.
• Complete Nail trims.
• Perform Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning.
• Handle dogs confidently and compassionately.
• Book and manage appointments using the internal computer software booking system.
• Answer telephone and e-mail enquiries and proactively book appointments providing excellent customer service at all times.
• Process customer payments
• Utilise Facebook, under supervision, to show photos of completed grooms to promote Short Bark & Sides.
• Maintain a clean, organized and hygienic salon, ensuring all Health & Safety requirements are maintained at all times.
• Build rapport with clients and their dogs and offer advice on coat care and grooming schedules.
• Proactively promote Cheltenham Animal Shelter and its service including Short Bark & Sides.
• Work as a team with other Shelter colleagues treating all with respect, integrity and in a professional manner.
• Report any repair defects to the General Manager/Maintenance person.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the General Manager or Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Shelter.
