Bookkeeper with Basic Tax Return Experience

About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper in the Gloucester/Cheltenham area to join our small but busy team. The ideal person will have solid bookkeeping skills and experience preparing basic tax returns for individuals or small businesses. You’ll be supporting a varied portfolio of clients, from sole traders to limited companies, and helping them stay on top of their finances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Reconciling bank accounts and maintaining accurate ledgers
- Assisting with management accounts and year-end preparation
- Preparing basic self-assessment tax returns
- Liaising with clients and colleagues to resolve queries
About You:
- Proven bookkeeping experience (practice experience ideal)
- Knowledge of cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
- Basic understanding of UK tax and self-assessment
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Friendly, professional, and great with clients
- AAT qualified or QBE (qualified by experience)
