Cheltenham

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to support our marketing department. Working collaboratively, key responsibilities will include the administration of promotional campaigns, including email and website marketing, social media and the organisation of book reviews.

Outstanding organisational, communication and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise, are essential, as is excellent attention to detail. In addition, knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Express, Campaign Monitor, WordPress or databases would be an advantage.

Experience of working in marketing or the publishing industry is desirable. This is a full-time position, working 35 hours per week, based at our office in Cheltenham UK.

Book Reviews support

● Maintaining our database of media outlets, including academic journals, newspapers, magazines, blogs, newsletters, podcasts
● Researching promotional opportunities eg, listservs, associations and events
● Proofing monthly New Books mailer
● Responding to review requests and sending (e)Books to potential reviewers
● Disseminating printed reviews (internal and to authors) and passing suitable promotional quotes on for use in marketing material
● Building email campaigns (Campaign Monitor) from briefs drawn up by Marketing Execs

Book covers

● Retrieving from shared drive, resizing in Photoshop (using automated actions) and uploading to various outlets promptly.
● Chasing missing/late book covers from our Production Department, troubleshooting website cover issues
● Filing appropriately

Social Media

● Finding and following authors/key contributors for imminently published books, so posts can be tagged
● Approving requests to join our LinkedIn groups (eg: Competition Law journal group)
● Uploading author videos to our YouTube channel and passing links to be stored on the database
● Posting to LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook and Instagram and interacting appropriately with followers

Marketing material

● Producing flyers in Indesign using a template, adding hyperlinks and any relevant
conference/launch/discount information. Sending on to authors.
● Producing promotional assets for new books suitable for use on social channels (Adobe Express)

Marketing Contacts

● Assisting with the maintenance of our marketing database.

Conference scheduling

● Keeping a calendar of upcoming conferences marketing-wise and contacting organisers a couple of months prior to optimise promo opportunities and schedule promotional emails Elgarblog
● Posting blog pieces (using WordPress), sourcing suitable images and informing the author when the pieces are live.
● Administrating notifications/pingbacks/comments etc in Wordpress

Book Awards

● Overseeing the calendar of entry dates and seeing the application process through (including entry forms, supply of books from distributor/obtaining watermarked PDFs, contact with award coordinators, informing our authors both of nominations and outcome)

Website

● Website amendments (using the Silverstripe CMS)
● Setting up discount codes (in Magento CMS) for conferences, mailers, and editorial requests
