At The Nelson Trust, we work to transform lives affected by addiction, trauma, homelessness and multiple disadvantage. Our Women's Community Services support women and their families to build resilience, achieve recovery and create lasting positive change.

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Family Practitioner to join our Women's Centre team in Gloucester. This rewarding role will provide intensive, trauma-informed support to families affected by substance misuse, helping them access practical assistance, therapeutic interventions and opportunities to thrive. Working closely with partner agencies, you will empower families to overcome challenges, strengthen relationships and improve outcomes for children and adults alike.

Location: Gloucester Women's Centre

What will you do

  • Manage a caseload of families affected by substance misuse, providing tailored practical and emotional support
  • Complete holistic assessments and develop collaborative, strengths-based action plans
  • Deliver one-to-one and group interventions that build resilience, improve parenting capacity and address the impact of trauma and substance misuse
  • Work closely with social care, FDAC and other partner agencies to coordinate effective support for families
  • Advocate for families at multi-agency meetings and contribute to safeguarding and children in need processes
  • Support families to access specialist services and opportunities that promote long-term positive change

What we are looking for

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across service locations
  • Experience working with families experiencing multiple and complex needs
  • Experience supporting women affected by substance misuse
  • Knowledge of issues such as substance misuse, domestic abuse, trauma and family systems
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with individuals who may find it difficult to engage with services
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload and work collaboratively with partner agencies
