Main duties of the job
As a HCA working alongside the liver CNS`s on the Hepatology assessment unit, the expectation is that, with adequate training, supervision and assessment, you will be able to;
- To participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing the highest standard of patient care
- Setting up of the bay in preparation for the day and cleaning of clinical area
- Printing patient labels and wrist bands
- Undertake specific delegated tasks following the appropriate training and competency level e.g. patient observations including weight, and hand grip strengths
- Assisting with moving and handling
- To assist patients with hygiene and toileting when required
- To assist with moving and handling
- Ensuring patients are comfortable
- Arranging outpatient appointments
- Admit and discharge patients on TRAK
- Emptying Ascitc drains
- Stocking up
- Taking scripts to pharmacy including order book
Collecting from Pharmacy
- Ordering and chasing stores
- Cannulation and phlebotomy
- Podding bloods
- Patient nutrition and hydration
- My porter
- To undertake clinical activities, following training and assessment, as directed by the Registered Nurse
- To report any change in the condition of patients to the nurse in charge
- To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures
