Sharpness Primary School are looking for a reliable, practical and friendly Caretaker / Handy Person to join our small primary school community.
Approx. 10 - 15 hours per week (48 weeks per year)
The successful candidate will help to ensure that our school buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, clean, well-maintained and welcoming for our pupils, staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school and grounds.
• Undertaking basic DIY tasks such as painting, decorating, putting up shelves, repairing fixtures and fittings, and assembling furniture.
• Carrying out routine checks of the school site, identifying and reporting any maintenance or safety issues.
• Responsible for opening and closing the school site.
• Keeping outdoor areas, playgrounds and paths tidy and safe.
• Liaising with contractors and tradespeople when required.
• Ensuring tools, equipment and maintenance areas are kept safe, tidy and secure.
• Supporting the school with basic health and safety checks and site security.
• Carrying out other reasonable duties that help keep the school running smoothly.
• There will be some cleaning responsibility to support the daily school cleaner (additional hours may be provided).

Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, building, grounds keeping or a similar role would be an advantage, but we would also welcome applications from someone with good practical skills and the right attitude.
