Food Services Manager
Stroud
Job Purpose
The Food Service Manager is responsible for operating and overseeing both kitchen operations and front-of-house guest service, ensuring smooth daily functioning, quality food preparation, and excellent guest experiences.
The role has the opportunity for someone to create a vibrant and cheerful service that enhances our guest experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Kitchen Operations
- Manage two cooks and coordinate food preparation activities
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and health and safety regulations
- Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation
- Control food costs and minimize waste
- Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure cleanliness
- Capable of providing cover for a cook (desirable)
- Session Supervisor
- Supervise the drop-in service
- Provide induction and training to volunteers
- Supervise volunteers
- Ensure high standards of guest service and satisfaction
- Address and resolve issues arising with our guests who will include individuals with substance misuse and/or mental health issues
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas
- Support guests including distribution of food packs
Administrative and Other Duties
- Organise volunteer rotas
- Manage cook’s holiday and absence, provide cover where necessary
- Manage the drop-in budget and record and handle daily receipts
- Maintain food service, food receipts and volunteer recording systems
- Implement and enforce charity policies and procedures
- Participate in menu planning and pricing strategies
- Monitoring the Allergen matrix
- Liaise with the venue manager regarding facilities’ issues
- Attend trustee meetings
- Ensuring volunteer and staff training is completed
- Support the Trustees in all charitable activities
- Support the Drop in Services Manager, including providing holiday and sickness cover
Health and Safety
- Adhere to all Marah policies and procedures, and relevant legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act and agreed practice and policy, and that hazards are observed and reported to the appropriate Trustee. This incorporates all aspects of risk assessment.
Person Attributes
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in food service management
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Customer service orientation
- Problem-solving abilities and adaptability
- Basic financial management skills
- Experience with individuals with substance misuse and/or mental health issues
- Working knowledge of MS Office software, particularly MS Word & MS Excel. Sharepoint (desirable)
Qualifications
- Relevant food service qualification
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (desirable)
- Educated to GCSE grade c or above in English and Maths
- Full driving licence
