£13.13 per hour plus £1.00 per hour at weekends (pay award pending).

At GCT we believe that good food is at the heart of great care. We are looking for a passionate, skilled, and caring Chef to join our catering team and support the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for older people living in our CQC-regulated residential home, Magdalen House.

Working alongside and reporting to the Chef Manager, you will play a key role in preparing nutritious, appetising meals that support residents' health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of daily life.

About the role

We have 36.75 hours per week, over a two-week average, contract available for a Chef to work in our beautifully kept residential home.

The shifts times are 7.30am – 6.30pm and the successful applicant will be working 7 shifts over two weeks, including alternate weekends.

We do not provide sponsored employment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals to a consistently high standard..
  • Support the Chef Manager in delivering a varied and nutritious menu
  • Cater for specialist dietary requirements and texture-modified diets.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and served safely and hygienically.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with all food safety regulations.
  • Complete food temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other required records.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food waste.
  • Support Kitchen Assistants and work collaboratively within the wider care home team.
  • Contribute to special events, themed menus, and celebrations for residents.
  • Promote a positive dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life.

Essential Requirements

  • Experienced in a Chef, Cook, or similar catering role.
  • Qualified to Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 or willing to obtain.
  • Knowledgeable about food safety, allergens, and special dietary requirements.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about providing excellent food and service for older people.
