Room Lead - Jelly Tots Room

Room Lead - Jelly Tots Room

Gloucester

Jelly Bears Day Nursery is a warm and welcoming, small, independent family-run nursery dedicated to providing high-quality early years education and care for children from birth to five years. We are not part of a chain, and we pride ourselves on creating a close-knit, nurturing environment where children, families and staff feel known, valued and supported.

We are recruiting a full-time, permanent, all-year-round Room Lead to lead our Jelly Tots room.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated early years professional who holds a full and relevant Level 2/3 early years qualification (NNEB, NVQ Level 2/3, BTEC or equivalent). You will have a genuine love of working with children, a strong understanding of early childhood development and the confidence to lead and inspire a small team.

Responsible to the Nursery Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the Jelly Tots room and lead by example to ensure consistently high standards of care and education. You will create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment that supports each child's physical, emotional, social and educational development.

Your responsibilities will include planning and implementing engaging, age-appropriate experiences; supporting your team to deliver the EYFS effectively; monitoring children's learning and development; and ensuring observations, assessments and records are accurate and meaningful. You will also deploy and support staff within the room, promote positive teamwork and maintain high standards of safeguarding, health, safety and wellbeing.

Building strong relationships is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with children, parents, carers and colleagues to ensure every child receives individualised care and support. As part of our leadership team, you will help maintain the friendly, inclusive and family-focused atmosphere that makes Jelly Bears special.

Applicants will need:

  • A full and relevant Level 2/3 early years qualification
  • At least two years' experience working in a nursery or early years setting
  • A strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
  • Previous room leadership, supervisory or senior practitioner experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to support and motivate a team
  • A positive, caring and professional approach
  • A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop and thrive

Previous room leadership or supervisory experience would be an advantage.

We welcome applicants who can inspire fun, creativity and curiosity and who want to play an active role in a small nursery where their ideas and contribution will be valued.

You will be joining an incredible team who love what we do and have great fun doing it. If you are looking to work somewhere personal, supportive and genuinely centred around children and their families.

Jelly Bears Day Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff to share this commitment. We follow safer recruitment procedures, which include identity checks, an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and a probationary period.
