Are you excited to support and nurture young children in a stunning Cotswold setting? Drawn to the lure of days filled cooking, constructing, painting, walking, gardening, reading, playing and creating with an extended family of children at your heels? Our village school of 60 children plus a 8-place nursery is in the heart of Sheepscombe Village where staff, parents and the community all work together to create a unique learning experience, allowing all children to flourish.

This vacancy offers a working pattern of Monday-Thursday all day from 8.30 to 3.15. We want to employ an Early Years Practitioner who loves their job and this is a great opportunity for a motivated, friendly person to come and join us.This will be a Fixed Term Contract in the first instance with a view to it becoming permanent.

The position will be mostly based in our Reception and Little Lambs Nursery class but may, on occasion, include classroom support across the school. The role is varied and includes helping at sport, forest school and on school trips. There is also the potential for taking phonics groups as well as reading and maths catch-up sessions.

You will work closely with our skilled staff team across the school as we plan lots of things together. The success of this was noted recently in our Ofsted report: ‘The school provides pupils with regular opportunities to work with older and younger children in the school, often as whole-school projects. These activities successfully promote the family atmosphere that gives pupils a strong sense of belonging.’

The successful candidate will:
• be full of kindness

• have bucket loads of enthusiasm to support children in whatever they are doing
• be confident to lead groups of children as well as working 1-1 with children with at times
• like being outside and walking!
• be able to scaffold learning for children with SEND
• have a good knowledge of how children learn
• be willing to join in with the life of the school

The contract is for 23 hours per week term time only (Monday to Thursday) at Grade 5 (points 11-14 depending on experience) including INSET days.

In addition to this there will also be an additional 2 hours per week for 30 minutes of lunchtime supervision, at Grade 2, as everyone helps out at lunchtime and we eat with the children. You’ll also get a free school lunch each day.
